A couple of weeks from now, Jakarta Capital City Government will launch a multifunction card, named `Jak-Card`, which can be used to get services of trains and Transjakarta buses or mostly known as busway.
People can obtain this card at 80 busway shelters across Jakarta. As the trial, the Jak-Card program will be run at four train stations in the capital, namely Gambir, Juanda, Dukuh Atas, and Jakarta Kota stations.
“Besides the four train stations, the card can also be used at Bogor station,” said M Akbar, Head of Division of Traffic Management and Engineering of Jakarta Transportation Agency
Akbar said, by using this card, people would have many advantages since they did not have to bring cash to pay the fare, and they did not have to wait for their money changes at the locket either. “In short, people get lots of benefits from the card,” he stated.
People can have the Jak-Card with a maximum value of Rp 1 million. In addition to the train and busway services, the card can also be used to pay taxi service, as well as to shop at some designated mini-markets in Jakarta. “So, this card is not only useful for transportation,” he added.
Should this program run successfully, the government plans to broaden the Jak-Card usage at all busway shelters in Greater Jakarta, now numbering up to 160 units.

Obama visit will Boost Indonesia Tourism
Indonesia's Tourism minister is expecting that a visit from US President Barack Obama will boost tourism in Indonesia. President Obama spent some years of his childhood in Indonesia.
Indonesia's Tourism Minister Jero Wacik said that "If President Obama comes to Indonesia, it will send huge positive message to the people specially that Indonesia is very safe to travel.
He also believed that Obama's visit will generate positive media coverage which will boost the tourism in Indonesia.
Indonesia is one of the few countries still growing despite the recession. In 2009 around 6.45 million foreign tourists visited the country .8 up from 2008. Indonesia's growth has mainly been triggered by Bali, one of the most visited tourist destination in the world. However this number is very less significant comparing to Indonesia's neighbor like Malaysia who receives more than 20 million tourists per year.
It would be interesting to see how much impact does the visit of Obama makes on the Indonesian Tourism since President Obama is dropping his popularity all over the world in past few months.
